URBAN PLANNING – TARGET AREAS IN VIENNA
The 13 target areas of Vienna’s urban development represent a renovation of presenting the concerns and the work processes of urban development: due to their initial situation or to their expected modifications, the purposefully selected city areas will require a special attention in the years to come, be it because of particular problems to solve, or because of their extraordinary development potential and chances which are to be exploited in the interest of the city as a whole. Topics: city centre, main train station Vienna, Gründerzeit (so-called “Founding Period”) district / Westgürtel, etc.

ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN PLANNING
World heritage and modern architecture, priority of contemporary architecture, the Vienna Declaration of Architecture, local and international architects in Vienna, “Young Viennese Architects”.

URBAN RENOVATION AND PUBLIC AREAS
Architecture and urban design in Vienna, public areas in Vienna, advertisement in public areas. Examples: pedestrian zone in Vienna’s city centre, pedestrian zone in Vienna’s city centre – Christmas illumination, the square “Mariahilferplatzl”, the passage “Karlsplatzpassage”, the market “Naschmarkt” - restoration incl. the garage building project.

TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING
The aim of transport management in the “Vienna Region“ (ITS Vienna Region) is the overall control of mobility. Its prerequisite is an anticipatory planning strategy. ITS Vienna Region aims at motivating transport users to opt for transportation means in favour of the city. The planning is carried out in line with environmentally friendly and social principals as well as safety and competitiveness of the city.
